(while at the dinner table last night. & randomly at that...)
cayden: i wanna go on a pirate ship ride with Jesus!
well okay then, buddy. that definitely sounds like a good time. random, but good.

some spring shopping
we took the boys shopping at old navy yesterday. their Kids & Baby Sale is going on right now and there are some really awesome deals going on. we were able to get six shirts, two pairs of shorts and a pair of pants for well under a hundred bucks. cayden's easter outfit might even be in the mix. (hint: it is. and it's freakin' adorable.)
cayden's enamored with his blue pants. they're bright, bright blue and he refers to them as his spiderman pants. (have i ever mentioned his obsession with spiderman? cause, wow.) i love them because they're bright and fun and unlike anything else in his closet. and for $10? we might have to go back to Old Navy's Kids & Baby Sale and get another pair.
while the nugget doesn't really need any new clothes (he has all of cayden's old ones), it's still fun for him to have something new. we got him a couple of shirts – in a size 2T! where has my baby gone?
anyway, we had a good time shopping. the boys were (mostly) well behaved and loved helping us look through clothes. cayden's getting to the age where he has an opinion on what he wears, so it was a new experience having him tell us what he did and didn't like. the store was organized really well and we were able to find things easily. i think this mama needs to take herself back to Old Navy and spend a little money sometime soon!

cayden's convos
setting: cayden has a beatles tshirt and has been asking questions about the beatles. jeremy burned a cd so we could listen in the car. on our way home from school yesterday, we turned it on.
jeremy: guess what time it is? it's beatles time!
cayden: no it's not, daddy. it's valentimes!

happy heart day
we got a couple of things for the boys. kept it simple this year - which is totally going to be our motto for gift-giving from here on out. this was so much easier, and the boys loved what they got, so win-win, right? and also? i'm really looking forward to watching Peter Pan. i could not even begin to tell you the last time i've seen it. movie and pizza night at our house tomorrow night - who's in?
watching sawyer try to open his own envelope was both hilarious and so sad at the same time. he DID eventually get it open, but not without a little fit thrown in there for good measure. cayden's spiderman heart had gummies in it and he asked if he could take it to school, "cause all of my friends like spiderman, too." it was a very sweet moment, but i think he would have been sad if he came home and all his "valens" candy was gone.
this was the first year that jeremy and i exchanged gifts for valentine's in quite some time. we've always gotten each other a card, but i was really feeling the tug to get him something, so i did. i got him some of his favorite chocolate, some underwear, a starbucks gift card and this himalayan pink salt that he's been wanting FOREVER. it was pink, so it seemed valentine appropriate to me. jeremy surprised me with my favorite perfume that i've been out of for about six months (hence dumb/surprised face above). the perfume also came with a candle and lotion. jeremy might regret this gift as our house might soon smell all girl. but hey, i live with three boys, i can at least have a house that smells pretty, right?
happy valentine's day!

these two
our boys... y'all our boys are awesome. as awful as a three year old asking the same things over and over can be, at the end of the day, we're blessed with one incredible three year old. & as temperamental as our nineteen month old can be, he's blowing our minds with how smart he is these days. while the moment to moment can be so overwhelming with all the questions and emotions, at the end of the day, those moments seem trivial. i think these quick snapshots of these two fit them to a tee. sawyer is always moving, going, yelling, laughing, crying. & cayden has sweet little quiet moments (give him a book or a puzzle, and he'll be quiet for hours), but given the chance to be silly, he'll perform just like his brother. these two... i think we have our hands full with them. but our hearts? oh my goodness, they're so full too.

lately
• we have a contest going on at work called Fitness February. for every pound lost during this month, you earn $10. we have been eating healthier and exercising like woah for us. jeremy's down 3.0 pounds. me? i'm down 0.2 – um, what? boys have it so easy when it comes to losing weight. #notfair
• with the above being said, we went to dunkin donuts this morning. the number on the scale this morning was disappointing (to say the least) and a donut and cup of coffee just sounded too good to pass up. healthy eating starts over with lunch.
• also with the above being said, we've been walking/running every day this week. we're averaging almost 2 miles every morning and hoping to up that over the next week. it was raining this morning and i was actually a little disappointed that we weren't going out for a run. who am i?
• also with the exercise? jillian michaels 30 day shred is back in rotation. sheesh, lady. you're still tough. but the fun thing? the boys have started "exercising" with us. it involved getting hit in the head with a weight while doing crunches last night. but seeing Cayden and Sawyer try to do jumping jacks is totally worth it. & Sawyer will stand on his head while we're doing the video. i think he's rubbing in the fact that he can still touch the floor without bending his knees. #showoff
• i've been unmotivated to get in front of my sewing machine. like, completely unmotivated. which has seriously made the shop look a little wimpy and quite empty. i keep thinking the motivation is going to show up again... but i'm not going to force it, you know?
• our house is in dire need of a deep clean. i mean, scrub baseboards and floors and shampoo ALL the carpets type of clean. after Cayden got the flu, i got a serious sinus infection that lasted two weeks. two weeks of not feeling like a human is really quite awful. and i still have a lingering cough. but i'll take this cough over feeling like crap ANY. TIME. so the house really feels like it needs a scrub-down from top to bottom.
• jeremy and i have been getting more involved with our church. & it feels really good. really, really good. we're planning on helping out with a big weekend for our youth the first weekend of march. it's my birthday weekend, but the thought of being a part of Discovery sounds too good to pass up. also? if you're looking for a church, we'd love for you to come sit next to us one sunday.
• oh, back to the first bullet... eating healthier. we've joined The Fresh 20. and i'd like to tell you all about it, but i think a separate post is a must on that one.
• and i promise more photo posts coming soon. see bullet #6 as to why no photos (therefore no blog posts with photos) have been taken.
• p.s. this coffee from dunkin? i swear they put extra caffeine in it. it always makes me hyper-ish. which doesn't bode well for sitting at a desk all day. #yay
