new products (& a silly nugget)

NewProducts

there are some brand new lovelies in the shop today. i added seven new diaper clutches and about that many sets of new burp cloths. i'm loving the fabric on these and will be pretty sad when that fabric runs out. (ok, not all that sad because then i get to buy new fabric. and well, i kind of love doing that!)

also, jeremy and i celebrated our seventh wedding anniversary on monday. although we were all feeling a little sickly, we thought it would still be nice to get out and enjoy dinner together. there's a great little place next to a waterfall that has a huge deck. so we chose to go there. and since there was a lemon in a water glass, we got the obligatory lemon shot! big brother was a little bit older when we got his first lemon video, but it's just as fun to go back and watch. (as a side note? look how blonde cayden was when he was little!)

nine months old

Sawyer_NineMonths

well, nine months plus almost two weeks... but who's counting? sawyer, this month marked a pretty momentous moment. (is that redundant? i'm thinking yes.) anyway, nine months living in my belly and now nine months in the outside world. wow. three quarters of a year old. sigh.

you had a pretty fabulous month. as long as we don't talk about the hives episode. yep, we discovered that you were allergic to penicillin in a not-so-fun way for you. but you handled it like a champ! you rocked teething while your four uppers all tried to come in at the same time. two of them actually cut through on your nine month day. not the two that most would think though; it was one of your central incisors and one of your lateral incisors. (no worries, i looked it up on a teef chart. you're welcome.) the others are currently working their way in... but during your ninth month, you rocked two bottom teeth and two partial top teeth.

NinthMonth_Smaller

you were all about trying to crawl. you were an expert at rocking back and forth on your hands and knees. and even mastered the backward scoot. you are nursing twice a day – morning and night – and have forumla bottles while you're away from home. you eat three solid meals a day. most of them are still purees, but daycare has been persistent in trying to give you more adult food, so we've been following their lead.

your brother is probably your favoritest person to watch. but your eyes still light up like crazy when mommy or daddy walk into the room. you've had a little bit of separation anxiety, but have a tendency to quickly warm up to people you are unfamiliar with. oh, and your most favorite thing ever at the moment? grinding your teeth. stop this soon? please, and thank you.

easter weekend

Cayden_Hunting_1

sometimes i can't come up with the words i want to say. easter weekend was beautiful. in so very many different ways. the weather was gorgeous. perfect, even. so perfect that we ventured out on saturday morning to our church's easter egg hunt.

EasterHunt_1

it was cayden's first time hunting eggs. aunt "jimmy" even stopped by to help hunt eggs! i was afraid it was going to be one of those situations where all the older kids rush out and get all the eggs before the younger ones even have a chance. thankfully it was not one of those situations. they had different areas of the church campus set up for different age groups. i really liked that idea...

...until we got out to the playground where cayden's age group was supposed to hunt. a hunt it was not. there were a gazillion eggs, but they weren't hidden at all. we quickly realized that he was near the upper end of his age group and that maybe he should be hunting with the older kids.

EasterHunt_2

we rushed him out there. and? all the eggs were gone. that's ok though. cayden had a blast and had gathered a few eggs on his "hunt." (p.s. there were some cupcake shaped easter eggs. cayden loved those and kept picking them up saying, "a happy birthday easter egg!" so, so cute!)

EasterHunt_3

we got back inside and the easter bunny was there! and... cue epic toddler meltdown. cayden wanted absolutely nothing to do with the big white bunny. i can't really blame him. i have a somewhat irrational fear of people dressed up like characters. (don't believe me? ask my family. disney world at 14, was, um, interesting to say the least.) thankfully we have a willing infant. sawyer was kind of in awe of the easter bunny. we'll see how much longer that lasts. ha.

EasterBunny

easter morning brought the easter bunny to our house. (oh, and yes we had to convince the toddler that it was ok for the bunny to come. but only WHILE he was sleeping. i can't imagine the hysterics that could have ensued, but thankfully cayden settled down and went to bed.)

EasterMorning_Eggs

at our house, the easter bunny leaves a trail of eggs from the boys' rooms. it leads to their baskets. and each egg holds a small treasure (this year? a quarter in a few, with dimes in the others). cayden would pick an egg up, shake it, hand it to one of us and ask sweetly to, "open it, mommy?"

EasterMorning_CaydenPinwheel

the easter bunny isn't ever quite sure what to bring the baby of the house. but the bunny had heard that we were going on a vacation to the beach in a few weeks so he brought some beach toys! and some old-school pinwheels. those? have been the biggest hit. next to the plastic eggs, of course.

OurFamily_1

we were able to snap a few photos before church of our little family. getting all of us to look at the camera at the same time is highly entertaining. but you know? that's just how it goes sometimes. we had a fabulous service at church and then went to my sister's house for lunch. where i think we probably all ate a little too much food. but it was just so good!

hope everyone had a lovely easter!

oh, just mowing the lawn

CaydensSweetFace

last night was one of those nights. and by that, i mean one of those nights that you don't want to end. one of those nights that you store away in your brain, to pull out again and relive. the sun didn't set until well after 7. the temperature was perfect. and the smell in the air was one of spring. and of more warm, fun nights to come.

CaydenMowing

we had a beautiful dinner; tried out a new recipe. even cayden enjoyed it (even though he exclaimed, "i don't like it," several times). we quickly cleared away dinner to enjoy some time outside. while i was standing there, holding sawyer, the grass caught my eye. it was quickly approaching "out of control" status. i off-handedly mentioned mowing it since it's supposed to rain the next few days.

CaydenHelpingMow

sawyer, cayden and i settled in to watch daddy mow the grass. exciting times i know! but really? sawyer was entranced by the mower and every time daddy made his way back toward him, he had a fit! all too soon, it was time to put sawyer down for bed. just me, cayden and daddy left outside. and then cayden picked up his bubble mower and helped daddy finish the yard. oh my goodness, it was the cutest thing ever. and my heart melted all over the place.

new bibs in the shop

Sawyer_Bib

shop update! finally! it's only bibs (for the time being), but hey, one thing at a time, right? plus also? it's given me a lot of time to test out this new bib design on a certain baby. the verdict? they're awesome! plenty big to give ample room to be messy. the fronts are all made from beautiful cotton prints with a coordinating solid print across the top. they're backed with either an organic french terry cloth or an ivory colored terry cloth – both very absorbent. and to help with even bigger (wet) messes, there's also a layer of fleece in between to soak things up before baby's outfit gets ruined for the day. i think it's pretty safe to say that sawyer's happy with the new bib designs.
